Today is national cookie day and it also poses a very important question, which cookie is the best cookie? I know what your thinking, there can’t be only one winner.
I will say that there are plenty of cookies that have their place.
Like chocolate chip cookies, they are a favorite staple of mom’s everywhere and everyone’s mom has the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. Except for my great aunt her recipe has it, these cookies stay soft for weeks. She has a special ingredient that I will never divulge.
Also people’s great love for chocolate chip cookies explains, people’s distrust of oatmeal raisin cookies.

Filled cookies are also fun, it’s cookies and either ice cream or icing in a sandwich, what’s not to love?

My husband has a personal love for peanut butter cookies. Which I will admit that from time to time I love a good peanut butter cookie as well.
These 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies are super easy-to-make and delicious. I usually make them as a late-night snack & add in crumbled walnuts if I have them.https://t.co/N0Fb4ij5WI

Decorated sugar cookies as well as gingerbread cookies are also smells of the season in my house that always seem to conjure up some of my favorite memories. Like my moms mother baking her life changing cinnamon rolls or my dad’s mother using that one special glass that she used to imprint and dust cinnamon and sugar on the snicker doodles.
If we’re being really honest I don’t think national cookie day is about the cookies as much as it is about the joy of getting into the kitchen.
So slap on that apron and whip up a batch of cookies with the kids today. You’ll be making some great memories. And it doesn’t have to be cookies. I remember one of the first things I got to help with was rice crispy treats. How easy is that? And it is a memory with my mom that I will cherish.
