Tuesday evening after taping an episode of CMT Crossroads, Kenny talked Steve Miller (of Band fame) into heading over to the famous bar to play for the patrons.
Can you imagine? My luck if something like that happened I'd be too inebriated to enjoy. The next day I'd think it was just a drunken hallucination.
Reader Darrell was one of those lucky people in attendance and sent me the videos below. Thanks Darrell. Also, Digital Rodeo also has a group of really, really great pictures (like the one above) if you want to see some more. Check them out here.

Taylor Swift Gets Few Love Letters for 'Valentine's Day' Performance
from YAHOO!.com
Poor Taylor Swift. Turns out everyone liked her a lot better when she was an underdog struggling to get a word in. Now that the teen singer -- whose MTV VMA speech was famously, rudely, interrupted by Kanye West back in September -- has our undivided attention, she's facing a growing backlash that's getting stronger and snarkier by the minute.
The tide began turning for the statuesque country upstart after a less-than-dazzling (most frequently described as "pitchy") performance with Stevie Nicks at this year's Grammys -- where she won four awards including album of the year. Following the debacle, her label head -- and Naomi Judd -- came to her defense, which only rankled the masses including Kelly Clarkson.
Now, with Friday's release of "Valentine's Day," which nearly sags under the weight of so many Hollywood heavy-hitters, everyone's about to get a glimpse of her acting chops, which seemed more than passable when she hosted SNL in November. But early reports about the movie have been unkind, to put it mildly.
"Some teen viewers may be drawn by the lure of the two Taylors, but their time onscreen together arguably reps the film's low point," writes Variety's Todd McCarthy regarding Swift's performance alongside onetime boyfriend Taylor Lautner. "Swift, especially, seems entirely undirected, as she jumps around, makes faces and jabbers on inanely. If she's to have a film career, she needs to find a skilled director to tamp her down and channel her obviously abundant energy."
The Observer film critic, Rex Reed, is even more dismissive of Swift's "Valentine's Day" performance than he is of the movie itself: "This labored artifice strings together an 'all-star cast' (by today's dubious definition, anyway)," Reed writes in his review of the Garry Marshall-directed movie, "that runs the gamut from tone-deaf Flavor of the Moment Taylor Swift and movie werewolf Taylor Lautner to veteran Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine."
Even OK! Magazine, which spills endless ink charting Swift's every move, goes for the blond starlet's jugular. OK!'s movie critic, Phil Villarreal, dismisses Taylor as "not an actress," adding that Swift proves such a criticism by putting in a "regrettable" performance. "The movie isn't awful, and nor is it an award winner," Villarreal declares, "unless you count Swift's frontrunner status to add a worst supporting actress Razzie to her shelf full of Grammys." Ouch.
The lone holdout seems to be Time Out New York critic, Joshua Rothkopf, who lauds Swift for, get this, convincingly appearing vacant: "Blond awards-magnet Taylor Swift reveals an unexpected gift for self-deprecating sunniness, chattering vacantly in an elevator to a stranger."
Looks like Swift could really use another sympathy-grabbing interruption. Paging Kanye West!
Watch Taylor Swift in a Clip from 'Valentine's Day'
Shania Twain has given fans a new letter along with a couple of new videos. I've posted part of the letter and one of the videos (Shania's still definitely got it) here but you can read/watch the rest at www.ShaniaTwain.com.
Greetings everyone,
I'm writing you from the Caribbean where I'm warming up after a cold stretch in Canada during the holidays. The sunny weather gets me into writing mode. Many of the songs from The Woman In Me and Come On Over were written in the tropics so it's a good place for me to be creative.
I wanted to give you a peak at some of the footage Fred grabbed during my trip to Ontario over Christmas and New Years so I put together a montage of bits and pieces to share with you.
There were many highlights, but the key ones were sitting by the tree singing old songs with family, hanging around in comfy clothes and doing nothing but enjoying a relaxing evening by the fire. It was cold and snowy outside, warm and cozy inside.
My cousin Kenny and I kicked a few songs around as we tried to remember how they went. The jamming is pretty rough, but real, and thought you would appreciate the authenticity of it, even if it is poor, home quality.
The once-in-a-lifetime experience of carrying the Olympic torch along its journey to the final stop in Vancouver, BC for the winter Olympic Games was an energizing opportunity. I was worried about the length of the run as I didn't want to embarrass myself by arriving at the cauldron out of breath. It turned out we were ahead of schedule, and I was asked to take my time and even stop periodically so I didn't get to the cauldron too early. When Eja saw me after the run, he said, "Mom, it is called an Olympic torch run because you are supposed to RUN, not WALK!" The temperatures were pretty low so running the whole way would probably have, ironically, kept me warmer. In any case, it was an awesome 300 meters and I will cherish the honor forever.
Easton Corbin Takes Debut Single 'Strait' to the Top 10
Easton Corbin is having a lot of beginner's luck! His debut single, 'A Little More Country Than That,' has been steadily climbing the charts -- closing in on the Top 10, with praise from fans and critics alike. One country station on Sirius satellite radio recently acknowledged that people were calling in asking the deejay to play the song by "that artist who sounds like George Strait."
Easton, who has wanted to be a country singer since he could crawl, admits that King George has been one of his heroes along the way, but is somewhat cautious about the comparison. "It's a great, great compliment to be mentioned with him," Easton tells The Boot. "But like I tell most folks, there will never be another George Strait. I'm not trying to be like him or sound like him, that's just kind of how it comes out. My biggest influences on my singing and artistry – including George – are Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley and George Jones. I tell folks there'll never be another one of those guys either. I just take those influences, and that's who I learned to sing from as far as my style."
Take a peak inside Taylor's fairy tale bachelorette pad
Okay, the photos In Touch magazine got of Taylor's new penthouse in Nashville aren't exactly decked out with the koi pond and fairy tale decorations I was hoping would be in place already, but it's definitely a far cry from the studio apartment I had when I was 20.

Taylor's Kissing....1st...then the 2nd...then...
Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner shared their first on-screen kiss on the first day of shooting the film Valentine's Day. Director Garry Marshall tells E Online, "The first three were nice. By the fourth, I think they started going together. I don't know what the hell happened, but somewhere in the fifth or sixth take, they were dating."
Marshall is already planning a sequel, but no word on whether either Taylor will be in it.
Carrie Underwood has been proudly sporting the 5-carat diamond from hubby-to-be Mike Fisher for nearly 2 months now, but Carrie admits it wasn’t what she’d have ever thought of…

No official plans have been made for the wedding yet…but Carrie already has hinted at an outdoor wedding with lots of family, big hair, and lots of love.

Taylor in "Valentine's Day"
If you're chomping at the bit to see Taylor Swift's big-screen debut in Valentine's Day, log onto YouTube for preview clips and movie trailers. The flick opens Friday in the U-S, but Taylor won't be around to promote it -- she has shows in Australia all week before heading to Tokyo for a concert next week. --
Carrie Underwood has done a lot of stuff...she was an American Idol, she's had loads of hit songs, she was entertainer of the year, she's engaged to a hot hockey player, she's trying out acting. But there's one thing that may just rate highest on her list of accomplishments...she's now a Sesame Street character, or at least she's inspired one.
Carrie is the inspiration for Carrie Underworm, singing worm extraordinare. Carrie also recorded "The Worm Anthem," for the show that you can check out in the video below. According to CMT the Sesame Street episode is scheduled to air on PBS on Thursday (Feb. 11), as well as March 17, April 8 and April 26.
A little note, though, according to the Muppet Wiki (yes, there really is a Muppet Wiki) the episode is actually from December 28, 2009, so I'm not sure if the upcoming dates are reruns or if Carrie Underworm is going to have a recurring spot on the show. It's cute anyway so I don't suppose it really matters.
Triple L Fans Bobbi and Jim were lucky enough to take in one of Jake Owens' concerts recently and then were nice enough to pass along a review and some pictures. Thanks Bobbi and Jim...
I must start this out by saying Jake Owens concert sold out during presale! And being one of the lucky ones to get tickets, I know why! He is definitely full of energy and so is his band. There were 2200+ people at the Dallas Bull in Tampa,Fl on Friday Jan,22. And people outside waiting to get in to get a look at such an amazing group. Jake sang all his popular hits including 8 second ride, he also mentioned his parents being there in the audience too. So he promised to "behave" because of that.
He did do an encore coming back out on stage to do a few more songs. They played for about 2 1/2 hours. And I have to say they sounded awesome and there performance was excellent! I would definitely say if you ever get the chance to see him perform, it is worth the night out!

LeAnn Rimes turned to police for help on Thursday (Feb. 4), after she was harassed by a homeless fan.
According to aceshowbiz.com, the fan -- nicknamed 'Queen on the Scene' -- got a little too close for comfort as the 27-year-old singer was leaving a doctor's office in Beverly Hills, Calif. LeAnn was snapped holding her arms up in front of her face while trying to fend off the "superfan," telling her to "get out of the way."
Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department came to LeAnn's aid, arresting the woman for "aggressive solicitation," and forcing her to leave her baby stroller full of possessions on the sidewalk.
The Boot received a personal email today from animal activist group PETA, in regards to the Grammy's Best New Artist winners the Zac Brown Band and their No. 1 hit song, 'Chicken Fried.' It seems PETA would like Zac and his bandmates to change the menu on their pre-show "eat-and-greets," where select fans are offered a big plate of pork, beef and all the fixin's.
"If PETA has its way, the 'Chicken Fried' singers will be hosting an all-vegan edition of their celebrated 'eat and greets' for fans," a rep for PETA wrote to us.
"We're writing today in the hope that you'll extend your love of freedom to animals," PETA continues, addressing the band. "In your song 'Chicken Fried,' you praise the simple pleasures of life -- a cool drink, a home filled with love, enjoying the sunshine -- all pastimes denied to the millions of cows, pigs, chickens, and other animals raised for food on factory farms every year."
PETA is sending the band a basket of protein-rich faux meats, like tofu, along with their letter. Read it in its entirety, after the jump.

The line-up of the performers taking part in the new recording ranged from Keri Hilson and Miley Cyrus to Keith Urban, Josh Groban, Reba McEntire, Sugarland, Julianne Hough, Zac Brown Band and Carlos Santana. Though many stars chose to participate, several others did not. Taylor Swift, for example, could not join due to her scheduling conflict, while Lady GaGa reportedly turned down the invitation.

Randy Travis Offers Carrie Underwood 'BIG' Thanks
Randy Travis Offers Carrie Underwood 'BIG' Thanks
Randy Travis won his first Grammy in 21 years on Sunday, for his collaboration with Carrie Underwood on his 1988 self-penned hit, 'I Told You So.'
Unfortunately, the legendary singer was unable to attend the ceremony due to a snow storm that hit his hometown of Santa Fe, New Mexico. But he took to his website to express his gratitude to Carrie for the win.
"This is the first time that I was not able to be on hand to accept a Grammy," says the singer. "If it wasn't for the weather I would have thanked all the people who voted for us. a BIG thank you to Carrie for asking me to be part of this recording. She is an amazing talent and I am honored to win this with her."
This is Randy's third Grammy win. His other two Grammy awards were both for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, in 1988 for 'Always & Forever,' and in 1989 for 'Old 8x10.'

Taylor Swift & Stevie Nicks' Grammy Performance Invites Critics, Defenders
Taylor Swift & Stevie Nicks' Grammy Performance Invites Critics, Defenders
Fresh off her recent four-Grammy-win, Taylor Swift's name has been everywhere the last few days. Unfortunately for the young star, that may not be such a good thing.
Performing 'Rhiannon' and 'You Belong With Me' with rock legend Stevie Nicks during the Grammy ceremony, fans and critics alike wasted no time in sharing their opinions about Taylor's performance. In spite of taking home the trophy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance, the overwhelming consensus on this particular night was that the famous singer wasn't singing her best.
"Swift gave a strikingly bad vocal performance at Staples Center on Sunday," the LA Times wrote (quote via Nashville's Tennessean), "sounding tinny and rhythmically flat-footed as she shared the microphone with the distinctive Stevie Nicks."
The Washington Post agreed: "A night in the charmed life of Taylor Swift: Give an incredibly wretched vocal performance, go on to win the biggest Grammy of 2010 anyway."
Nashville's Tennessean also criticized the performance, offering that "Maybe a smidge of Jamie Foxx's autotune wouldn't be such a bad idea for this duet."
While most agree that her performance was not one of her best, the president and CEO of her label, Big Machine, is quick to defend her abilities.
"The facts say she is the undisputed best communicator that we've got," Scott Borchetta says. "So when she says something or feels something it affects more people than anybody else. Maybe she's not the best technical singer, but she is the best emotional singer. Everybody gets up there and is technically perfect people don't seem to want more of it. There's not an artist in any other format that people want more of than they want of Taylor. I think [the critics] are missing the whole voice of a generation that is happening right in front of them. Maybe they are jealous or can't understand that. But obviously the people that she talks to are engaged with her. No one is perfect on any given day. Maybe in that moment we didn't have the best night, but in the same breath, maybe we did."
Scott isn't the only one singing her praises. OK! magazine referred to it as a "fun, memorable performance," calling Taylor the "standout star of the evening." Butch Walker, who joined Taylor and Stevie on stage, says to Entertainment Weekly, "I think a lot of people give her unnecessary grief. Her appeal is not in [having] some big diva voice ... Taylor comes from country. It's a different approach to singing."
Whether or not she is the best singer, Taylor is the best-selling artist of the past year. Currently in Australia with her 'Fearless' tour, she will return to performing stateside March 4.

Fans of Kenny Chesney are well aware that he’s a big sports fan, and now with the Super Bowl coming up, Kenny has a big decision to make: does he root for the Saints or Colts?
Kenny is a long-time friend of Colts’ Quarterback and University of Tennessee alumni Peyton Manning. Manning has appeared at many Chesney shows, often taking the stage with his good friend to sing along.
Kenny is also a good friend of New Orleans Saints Head Coach Sean Payton. As you’ll recall, Kenny has worked out with the team in the past and he attended Sunday’s NFC Championship game as a guest of Payton.
Both Manning and Payton were guests of Chesney at his “Keg In The Closet” tour stop in Key West, FL this past March where they joined the country superstar on the microphone…
So… based on their football expertise and musical talent (or lack there of!,) which team do you think Kenny will be rooting for in Super Bowl XLIV?
John Mayer Joins Taylor Swift For Dinner In Nashville

Mayer is in town to tape CMT Crossroads with Keith Urban tonight and joined Swift and a group of 15 others for dinner at the Nashville hotspot. Despite sitting next to each other throughout dinner, a source says that the two are not romantically linked. “It looked like a big group of Nashville friends… they were so nice,” says the source.
Swift and Mayer recently recorded “Half Of My Heart” for Mayer’s latest album, Battle Studies.

Dixie Chicks Sisters Return as Court Yard Hounds
Dixie Chicks Sisters Return as Court Yard Hounds
When Dixie Chicks sisters -- fiddler Martie Maguire and guitarist/banjoist Emily Robison -- recorded their first album together without lead vocalist Natalie Maines, they re-named themselves Court Yard Hounds (a reference to the best-selling novel, 'City of Thieves'). The duo recorded their intimate pop-folk project at Martie's home studio in Austin, Texas.
Without Natalie, Emily sings lead vocals for the first time ever, on songs inspired by her recent divorce from fellow singer/songwriter Charlie Robison. "These songs are very personal," Emily tells Rolling Stone.
With Natalie on indefinite hiatus, Emily and Martie had become more and more anxious to get back in the studio to record the past few years.
"Emily and I had the itch," says Martie. "And every time we'd call Natalie and say, 'are you ready?,' she wasn't ready. She wanted a clear-cut break."
Both Emily and Martie insist that the Dixie Chicks have not disbanded. In fact, the sisters are still fervently hoping that Natalie -- who lives in Los Angeles -- will soon feel the same itch they did.
"I'm hoping she'll come out to one of our shows," says Martie. "Maybe it'll inspire her to want to do music again."
Emily sings a duet with Jakob Dylan on the album, 'See You in the Spring.' The sisters will appear for the first time as Court Yard Hounds at South by Southwest in March, and their new album is due out in May, with a tour to follow.

The upcoming Southern Voice tour has Tim fired up after spending the past few years focusing on his acting career.
"This is the first sit down and plan a tour and do it right tour we've done in a while," Tim told Lon Helton on this past weekend's Country Countdown USA. "I'm ready for it, though. Rumors have been swirling lately about Carrie Underwood appearing in an upcoming theatrical movie, “Soul Surfer”, based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton and her courageous determination to preserve her dreams of surfing after a terrible shark attack. The movie begins production very soon in Hawaii and has a planned release sometime late this year; around October. So far, some big names have been cast including: Denis Quaid, Hellen Hunt, and child actress Anna Sophia Robb, who will play the lead role as Bethany.
Although not yet confirmed this rumor seems pretty legit, as a actor appearing in the movie, Kevin Sorbo, released the info of Carrie being cast on Twitter. @ksorbs
name of movie is ’soul surfer’. touching story. i will be starring with dennis quaid, helen hunt, carrie underwood, anna sophia robb.
Here is some further information on the movie:
Sony Entertainment’s Soul Surfer is in the midst of pre production on Oahu’s North Shore – based at the Turtle Bay Resort – with filming slated to begin Jan. 25. The bio pic about Kauai professional surfer Bethany Hamilton who had her left arm bitten off by a tiger shark while surfing at Hanalei Bay stars AnnaSophia Robb. Hamilton gave Robb surfing instructions on Kauai’s north shore over the holidays. AnnaSophia Robb is set to take the lead in the upcoming Soul Surfer.
Based on the courageous events of Bethany Hamilton’s attack, the film will start production at the end of the month, according to Bethany and The Herald Sun. Bethany says of meeting AnnaSophia, “She’s super cool. A great girl. We’ve met in Hawaii and hung out. They wanted a one-armed person doing it [the shark attack scenes] and that’s not easy to find.”
Bethany was surfing with a friend when she was 13 when a tiger shark ripped her arm off just below her shoulder. Three weeks later, Bethany was back on her board at her home break at Kauai, Hawaii. Now, she’s a pro-surfer who placed second at the Billabong tournament last year.
Anyway, the movie is about Bethany Hamilton, the pretty blonde teenaged surfer who had her arm bitten off by a shark. I have a feeling this will definitely be one of those touching, make-your-soul-feel-better movies. I'll let you know when "official" word comes out about Carrie's role. In the meantime, you can check out more about Bethany here.

Lady Antebellum Reveals Details About ?Need You Now?
Lady Antebellum revealed new details about their highly anticipated sophomore album, Need You Now, today.
The reigning CMA Vocal Group of the Year, co-wrote eight of the disc’s 11 tracks together and with some of Music Row’s most awarded songwriters. Veteran Paul Worley returns as producer, and Lady A makes their first outing as co-producers on the second album.
“We touch on a lot of really personal things in these songs,” says Charles Kelley. “There’s a lot of emotion…there’s love, heartache, nostalgia, vulnerability, happiness and hopefulness. We hope that fans will get to know us even better when they listen to it.”
