LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - February 3rd, 2010 marks the 51st Anniversary of the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and J.P. Richardson (The Big Bopper).

The Buddy Holly Center would like to invite the public to an all day event celebrating the lives and legacies of three rock and roll legends. Patrons are invited to the Center FREE of charge on Wednesday, February 3rd from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, February 3rd includes a full day of events and free children's activities all day. The Real Buddy Holly Story, produced and hosted by former Beatle, Paul McCartney, will be shown in the theater at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

A reception will be held at 4:30 p.m. including cider and cookies. Bill Griggs, Rock and Roll historian and Buddy Holly expert will conduct a guided tour of the Buddy Holly Gallery and Buddy's Bedroom exhibition at 5:30 p.m.

  • Special exhibit from Texas Tech University Southwest Collection's Crossroads of Music Archive on display

SCREENINGS OF THE REAL BUDDY HOLLY STORY

Produced and hosted by former Beatle, Paul McCartney, this brilliant and enlightening program is the most authoritative biography ever assembled on the life of the American pop icon.

Times: 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED RECEPTION

Hot apple cider and cookies will be served.

Time: 4:30 p.m.

GUIDED TOUR

Join Bill Griggs, Rock 'n' Roll historian and Buddy Holly expert on a guided tour of the Buddy Holly Gallery and Buddy's Bedroom exhibition.

Time: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
