The CMT Awards didn’t just have great performances, it was filled with some really funny moments too.  Whether you agree or not about Kid Rock hosting the event, it was pretty entertaining.  Here are some of the highlights.

2010 CMT Awards Winners

 

 
Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood was the big winner at the 2010 CMT Music Awards in steamy Nashville, Tenn. Wednesday night. The country superstar took home CMT Performance of the Year for her live rendition of 'Temporary Home' from the CMT special, 'Invitation Only: Carrie Underwood.' She also stakes claim to the night's biggest prize -- Video of the Year, for 'Cowboy Casanova.'

"This is very special to me," Carrie said upon accepting her first award, thanking the fans. "You guys are what makes all of us. We couldn't do what we do without you guys."

Miranda Lambert also thanked fans in her acceptance speech for Female Video of the Year for 'White Liar,' in an upset win over Taylor Swift ('You Belong With Me'), Carrie Underwood ('Cowboy Casanova') and Reba McEntire ('Consider Me Gone').

Male Video of the Year honors went to Keith Urban for 'Til Summer Comes Around.' Lady Antebellum were the Group Video winners with their smash hit, 'Need You Now.' And the soon-to-split Brooks and Dunn take home their last CMT Award as a duo, for 'Indian Summer.'

Last night, country music celebrated its stars and favorite videos at the CMT Music Awards. Here's what went down...

 

 
ON THE RED CARPET

 

  • Comedian Melissa Peterman and CMT's Evan Farmer hosted the red carpet show, with Evan unbuttoning his shirt to show a drawn on six-pack a la The Jersey Shore's "The Situation."
  • LeAnn Rimes walked the red carpet with John Anderson, whose song, "Swingin'," is her latest single.
  • Miranda Lambert, wearing a sparkly dress, she said looked like a giant-disco ball. She also showed off her engagement ring from Blake Shelton.
  • Jersey Shore's "The Situation" said he was looking forward to meeting Carrie Underwood and Kid Rock.
  • Carrie Underwood and Melissa Peterman were both decked out in gorgeous magenta dresses, prompting Melissa to say that she looked like Barbie to Carrie's Skipper.
  • Tim McGraw and Faith Hill stopped on the carpet to talk about the upcoming Nashville Rising benefit that will raise funds for victims of the recent floods.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS

  • Football player Terrell Owens did a painful parody of "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys."
  • Saturday Night Live's Keenan Thompson and Reba McEntire dressed alike to present the Collaborative Video of the Year award.
  • Keith Urban expressed heartfelt concern for the people affected by the Gulf oil spill.
  • In his closing speech, Kid Rock thanked the Nashville community for welcoming him.

MEMORABLE MUSICAL MOMENTS

  • Kid Rock opened the show with "Cowboy." Joining him were Martina McBride, Kellie Pickler, Trace Adkins, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Zac Brown and Hank Williams Junior.
  • Jamey Johnson was backed up by Little Big Town for "Macon"
  • Keith Urban and John Mayer turned in a rocking performance of "Hit the Ground Running"
  • Lady Antebellum closed the show with the confetti-filled "Stars Tonight"
