LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock legend and the superstar who wrote and recorded songs in our KLLL studios, will officially become a bigger deal in Hollywood. The effort to make Buddy Holly even more of a star has finally happened.
An online group with thousands of supporters was dedicated to getting Buddy Holly a star of his own in Hollywood.
Each year, only one star is given to a person after their death. Out of the first ten musicians inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Buddy was the only one that didn't have a star.
"If anybody comes and reads his life story they would understand it should have been done a long time ago," says Kevin Magowan, who started the online push. "To have this on the west coast that honor it would just be the cherry on the top of the ice cream."
