Anthony Bourdain: It’s Just Not The Same Without “Tony”

“Michael Corleone got it completely wrong man, all business is personal”-Anthony Bourdain.

“There’s certain people that’ll call you up at four o’clock in the morning and say meet me on the corner of Avenue D and 4th Street.  Bring a handgun, a stolen car, a tarpaulin, and some duct tape.  You don’t ask why, you just go!”-Anthony Bourdain

These quotes aren’t words that are full of meaning and life lessons.  It’s just Anthony Bourdain being freaking cool!  When I think of my definition of “cool”, I think of Anthony Bourdain.  I was addicted to No Reservations for a long time.  Parts Unknown was also a huge success.  CNN will never be the same.

I would really like to say that I was in shock when I heard the news about my dude Anthony Bourdain but I wasn’t.  First of all there’s the whole “celebrity deaths come in three’s” thing and secondly, considering the lifestyle that he lived , I’m sure he had some serious scars.  I love food and everything about it.  Cooking is very ritualistic and therapeutic.  Anthony Bourdain was the guy that could easily convince me to get up and cook some fancy meal like brazed duck and new potatoes like I could actually do it.  It’s ridiculous because I can’t but cook a 5 star meal but on his first big TV show success No Reservations, he had the ability to make me think I could!  He made it look so easy.

Anthony tweeted twice on June 3rd, after that there was no activity on his account whatsoever.  Then comes the bad news.  These were his last two tweets…

Anthony Bourdain was an eccentric, educated, well spoken, bad boy.  He has so may sides to him that he is round.  I am the same way, just not near as cool and Anthony Bourdain.  He was 61 years old.

Anthony Bourdain was all original.  He lived his life and didn’t really care what anyone had to say about it.  Even though this one wasn’t shocking to me, it cut deep.  So pour one out for Anthony Bourdain tonight!  Cheers!
