Thanks to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, 10-year-old Nico Sapienza got to take a break from dealing with a nervous system disorder and was able to hang out at a Boston Red Sox game — and even meet his favorite player, Mookie Betts.
While they were chatting before the game, Mookie promised Nico that he would hit a home run for him.
During the game, Mookie didn’t exactly follow through on his promise. Instead of hitting a home run, he ended up hitting THREE, leading the Red Sox to a 10-5 victory over the New York Yankees.
Mookie was happy to brighten the day of Nico — but he also gave Nico some credit for his success on the field, calling him the team’s “good luck charm.”
