A woman running in her first New York City Marathon earned a medal for finishing the long race, but also finished with a different piece of metal — an engagement ring.
Kaitlyn Curran approached mile 16 of the race and saw her boyfriend, Dennis Galvin, cheering her on from the sidelines. Then a moment later, he shocked her by hopping over the metal barrier.
Kaitlyn stopped and Dennis went down on one knee to propose. Kaitlyn, who could barely catch her breath after running 16 miles, responded “yes.”
Dennis put the ring on her finger, gave her a quick kiss and then sent along her way to the finish line, which she did at a time of four hours and 24 minutes.
