On January 30th, 2024, just after 9:40pm, Lubbock Fire Rescue received a 911 call in reference to a possible residential structure fire near
the intersection of 20th Street and Avenue T. The 911 caller advised that an abandoned structure at this address had heavy smoke and fire coming from the windows. Station 1 was first on scene and advised that they had a 2-story residential structure with heavy smoke conditions present. Crews quickly made entry into the structure for primary search and fire control. The fire was extinguished with zero reported injuries. Lubbock Fire Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office was then dispatched to this location to investigate the cause of the fire.

Initial investigation reports have revealed that earlier that day, a person had made a threat to light this structure on fire. After a thorough investigation, 32-year-old Manuela Martinez was arrested and booked in the Lubbock County Detention Center for active warrants and Arson (1st Degree Felony).
