Texas tech Men’s Basketball played back to back road games against the bottom two teams of the Big 12 Conference to start off March. The Raiders traveled to Morgantown for their matchup against West Virgina on March 2nd and then traveled to Stillwater to play against Oklahoma State on March 5th. The Red Raiders were able to add two wins into their column as they dominated on the road in the best conference in college basketball.

Tech defeated West Virgina 81-70 with a slow offensive start and were down 6 points at the half. The Raiders came in  hot in the 2nd half and scored 42 points while the Mountaineers only scored 25 points to seal the win in a tough on the road atmosphere. The leading scorer for the game against West Virgina was Joe Toussaint with 21 points.

Tech then defeated Oklahoma State in a blowout win 75-58. The Raiders held the Cowboys to only 17 points in the first half and dominated with 40 points in the paint without their big man, Warren Washington. The Raiders had 13 steals and 34 rebounds while having a field goal percentage of 50%. The leading scorer for the game against Oklahoma State was Pop Isaacs with 19 points.

In Grant McCasland’s first year as Tech’s head coach, this team has now won 10 conference games and 21 games overall. The last game of the regular season will be at the United Supermarkets Arena, where Tech will play #11 Baylor for senior night at 5 p.m. Will the Raiders be able to finish the season with a Win or will the team that went into overtime with Houston and TCU win in Lubbock? Tune into ESPN2 on March 9th for the final game of this season before the madness of the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments begin.
