The City of Lubbock is proud to announce the appointment of Rob Keinast as the Interim Fire Chief of Lubbock Fire Rescue. The City of Lubbock City Council approved the appointment at its regular meeting this afternoon. Having served in the department for 25 years, Chief Keinast brings an abundance of experience and leadership to his new role.

After serving in the United States Air Force, Chief Keinast began his journey with Lubbock Fire Rescue on April 26, 1999. Throughout his career, he has remained true to his dedication and passion for serving and protecting the citizens of Lubbock, Texas.

Throughout his tenure, Chief Keinast has steadily climbed the ranks, showcasing his exceptional skills and capabilities in various leadership positions:

  • Promoted to Equipment Operator on October 30, 2004
  • Promoted to Lieutenant on March 21, 2007
  • Promoted to Captain on January 15, 2011
  • Promoted to Battalion Chief on March 23, 2013
  • Promoted to Division Chief on February 8, 2014
  • Appointed to Deputy Chief on November 15, 2014

 

Chief Keinast Statement:

“I cannot thank Chief Fogerson enough for his 31 years of service and leadership to our department. Without Chief Fogerson’s leadership, Lubbock Fire Rescue would not be the state-of-the-art department it is today. On behalf of our department, we would like to wish Chief Fogerson a long and happy retirement. It is an honor and privilege to serve as the Interim Fire Chief of Lubbock Fire Rescue. I stand committed to having Lubbock Fire Rescue remain an innovative and professional fire service serving our great community.”

Chief Keinast will assume the role of Interim Chief effective May 4, 2024. While Chief Fogerson’s last day with Lubbock Fire Rescue will be May 3, 2024.
