A Regular Meeting and Workshop of the Board of Trustees of Lubbock Independent School District will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, beginning at 7:00 AM in the Boardroom, School Administration Building, 1628 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79401.

The meeting begins at 7 a.m. in the boardroom at Lubbock ISD Central Office, 1628 19th St. It can also be viewed online on the Lubbock ISD YouTube channel or at LubbockISDTV.com.

Items that may be of interest include the following under Academic Action Items:

  • Approval of Proposed Revision of Board Policy FDB(LOCAL), Admissions: Intradistrict Transfers and Classroom Assignments
    • The Board of Trustees will consider this item for approval, which would update the athletic eligibility policy to be in alignment with University Interscholastic League rules. The current policy prevents a student from participating in varsity athletics throughout their high school career if they transfer to a campus outside of the attendance zone where they live; the UIL policy requires a 365-day penalty.
  • Consider Board Approval to Not Extend the In-District Charter Agreement with Lubbock Partnership Network to Operate and Manage Alderson Elementary, Ervin Elementary, Hodges Elementary, and Dunbar College Preparatory Academy Beyond the 2023-2024 School Year
    • The Lubbock Partnership Network (LPN) was established in 2019 to accelerate student achievement at the campuses listed above and to be in compliance with the requirements of Senate Bill 1882. The network was part of a realignment of resources after House Bill 4205 in the 86th Texas Legislature provided an opportunity for Dunbar College Preparatory Academy to continue working toward school improvement with support from the network. Lubbock ISD administration is recommending to not extend the LPN contract past the end of its current term, which is the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

If, during the course of the meeting, discussion of any item on the agenda should be held in a closed meeting, the Board will conduct a closed meeting in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Government Code, Chapter 551, Subchapters D and E. Before any closed meeting is convened, the presiding officer will publicly identify the section or sections of the Act authorizing the closed meeting. All final votes, actions, or decisions will be taken in open meeting.
